The second son of William Penn Spencer and Eva Underwood Spencer, Lee was the twin brother of Lela. On 6 March 1915 in Maryville, Nodaway County, Missouri, Leland, age 20, married Clara Faith Florea, age 15. The fathers of Leland and Clara had to give their consent to the marriage because Clara was still a minor. Lee and Faith had three daughters and two sons: Helen Ruth Spencer, Margaret E. Spencer, William P. Spencer, and twins Doris and Dean Spencer.

Lee Spencer Rites Thursday Afternoon

Lee Spencer died at his home west of Bedford Nov. 2 after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon, Nov. 5 at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church. The body will lie in state at the church from one until 2 o'clock. Burial services will be in the Hopkins cemetery, with members of the Masonic lodge in charge.

Obituary – Lee Spencer

Lee Spencer, son of Penn and Eva Spencer, was born in Taylor county, Iowa, April 11, 1894, and died at his home west of Bedford, Nov. 2, 1953, at the age of 59 years, six months, 21 days.
On March 6, 1915, he was married to Faith Florea. To them five children were born; all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Ralph King (Helen) of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Don Worrell (Margaret) of Niles, Mich., Bill of Corpus Christi, Texas, and twins Doris and Dean at home. Other survivors besides his wife and children are the two sons-in-law, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Will Blake, and a brother, Paul, both of Bedford.
In 1915 he and his wife joined the Hazel Dell Baptist church, where they remained members until 1950, when they moved their membership to the First Baptist church of Bedford.
Mr. Spencer was a member of the Masonic lodge of Siam for many years, later transferring to the Taylor Lodge, A.F. & A. M. of Bed-
