Darrell Claude Aldridge, age 88, of Hickory passed away Monday, August 08, 2011 at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton. Born July 28, 1923 in Caldwell County, he was the son of the late Samuel A. and Destimona Coffey Adlridge.
Mr. Aldridge was a US Army/ US Air Force Veteran having served in WWII and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Newton where he served as a Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, Usher and grounds keeper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Wood Jones Aldridge, 2 sisters, 3 Brothers and a grandson, Lloyd Thomas Jones.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Newton with Dr. Lloyd Jones and Dr. J. D. Grasty officiating.
Burial will follow in Starmount Baptist Church in Newton with military graveside honors by America Legion Post 16 of Newton.
