Ken was born on July 23, 1941 in Canby, MN to Merrion and Myrtel (Hendrickson) Simonton. He attended rural school and school in Gary, SD. Following school, he lived on several area farms. Ken started driving truck in 1958 and retired in 2001 due to health reasons.
His biggest joy was driving his semi where he was known as the "Diesel Tramp". Ken enjoyed horses, livestock sales, dancing (cutting-a-rug), and socializing. He also was a fan of the Chicago White Sox and Hank Williams, Sr.'s music.
Ken is survived by seven sons: Kenny ("Syd") Simonton, Jr. of Abilene, TX, Sam (Dee) Simonton of Peru, NE, Tim (Wendy) Simonton, Jody (Lori) Simonton, Wade Simonton, Wes (Kelly Sheffield) Simonton all of Watertown, SD, and Andy (Lynn) Simonton of Orlando, FL; one daughter, Becky Simonton of Watertown, SD; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Toliver Simonton of Missouri; and two sisters: Annette Parrow of Watertown, SD and Karen Stone of Fargo, ND; one half-brother and three half-sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Monica; and two brothers, Francis and Donnie.
