Reuben August Steinbronn was born on June 15, 1931, to his parents Meta (Thies)and Gottlob Steinbronn, at Klinger, Iowa. Reuben received his elementary education at the Christian Day School of Immanuel Lutheran Church (Klinger, Iowa) and graduated from Readlyn High School (Readlyn, Iowa). Reuben worked on the family farm after graduating from high school for a few years. After being discharged from military service in 1955, Reuben was trained to be a building contractor by the Veterans Association (G.I Bill) at Carver Construction Company in Waverly Iowa.

Reuben was married to Anna Mathilda Bast on June 23, 1954, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Readlyn, Iowa, by Rev. Erich Dornbush. Reuben received his B.A. degree in social work from Wartburg, College, in 1970 and M.Div. degree from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois, in 1974. Reuben and Anna have resided in several towns and cities during their fifty-five years of married life together: Havre De Grace, Maryland; Readlyn, Iowa; Waverly, Iowa; Denver, Iowa; Springfield, Illinois; Lamesa, Texas; Swanville, Minnesota; Doniphan, Missouri; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and now Little Falls, Minnesota. After returning from his military service in 1955, he worked as a building contractor from 1955 until 1966. After eight years of college and Seminary training (1966-1974), all the while raising and being a good father to his five children; Reuben served these parishes during his thirty years as a parish pastor: Grace Lutheran Church, Lamesa, Texas; St. Peter Lutheran Church, Swanville, Minnesota; Trinity Lutheran Church in Doniphan, Missouri; Trinity Lutheran Church, Albuquerque, New Mexico. In his retirement years, he served four parishes in New Mexico: Immanuel Lutheran Church in Albuquerque; Christ Our Savior in Angel Fire; Sante DeCristo in Taos; and Prince of Peace in Cedar Crest. Reuben loved to sing (he had a great voice), bowl, read, fish, write poetry and hymns, landscape, and to barbeque. Reuben had a heart for the poor, especially for those who were neglected by the powerful, in those communities in which he lived. Reuben had many significant core personal values, foremost were his compassion, kindness, generous spirit, advocacy for justice, theological acumen, and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ be proclaimed to the nations. He loved his children and grandchildren greatly and his presence will be greatly missed by many, many people. Of these many outstanding qualities, Reuben will be remembered for his spirit of personal sacrifice so that the love of Jesus Christ could touch the lives of people so greatly in need of experiencing His love.

Reuben was a clergy member of Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, along with being a member of the Lutheran Layman's League and the local American Legion post. Reuben engaged in many kinds of advocacy labors: counseled individuals who were contemplating suicide, overseer of a local rescue mission, and personally sponsored several Vietnam families who had relocated to West Texas following the Vietnam War. Before he became a professional church worker, Reuben engaged in many forms of Christian service: sang in the choir, served as deacon and on the Board of Finance and Stewardship, taught in the Sunday School, and served on the Building Committee for the construction of a new church building.

Left to Cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-five years, Anna of Little Falls, MN; children, Anthony and Carol (Brauer) Steinbronn, of Howell, New Jersey; Kevin and Latha (Schmidt) Steinbronn, of Little Falls, Minnesota; Rebecca (Steinbronn) Hudnall, of Alto Texas; Jennie (Steinbronn) and Leo Johnson, of Blackduck, Minnesota; and Reuben and Kim (McLaughlin) Steinbronn, of Marshall, Minnesota. sisters, Linda Schneider, Marlys Bennett, and Mary Hoppenworth.
