Ova Elvira Nunnelee entered this world on May 25, 1904. Born in Potter, Arkansas, Ova was the oldest of nine children born to James Alec and Lacy Jane Baggs. She passed from this life on February 8, 2013 in Silver City, New Mexico, at the age of 108. Ova told of how her family moved to a farm when she was around 7 years old. She recalled her childhood with fond memories. Ova remained at home helping her father with the farm until the age of 20. In 1924, Ova and Jonathan "Dewey" Nunnelee married, and so began the next stage of a long and happy life. Ova and Dewey moved to New Mexico in 1942, staying until 1960, when the couple moved back to Antlers. After Dewey retired, they remained in Antlers until his passing in 1987. At the time of his death, they had been married for 63 years. Ova kept her own home until she moved to Silver City, New Mexico to be with her daughter Juanita and son-in-law Gene in 2002, where she remained until her passing. When asked what she hoped to be remembered for, her response was, "Well, I hope I'll be remembered as a nice, good lady!" Ova was preceded in death by her husband: Jonathan "Dewey" Nunnelee; son: Warren Edmond Nunnelee; parents: James & Lacy Baggs; 3 babies; and 8 siblings.
