He was born on June 4, 1913, in Iredell, Texas, to parents, Monroe Lee Haynes and Elizabeth Haynes (Weeks).
When Clyde was 16 years old (during the Great Depression, he and his best friend "hoboed" to California on a freight train. He got a job in the lettuce sheds in Salinas, California where he met Olive Strong whom he married August 18, 1934 in Hollister, California. They were married for 63 years.
During WWII, Clyde was a Block Warden and worked at Colgate/PalmolivePeet in Berkeley, California, where he was active in union affairs as a Shop Steward. Clyde and Olive moved their family to Oregon in 1951. He lived in the Glide, Oregon, and Roseburg, Oregon, area for over 50 years, He worked as partsman and shop foreman at Barcus Motors in Roseburg and then as the maintenance superintendent for the Glide School District until his retirement in 1972.
Clyde always had a beautiful yard full of flowers and he loved to fish. His passion for fishing was shared with his family who will miss him greatly and love him always.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive in 1997.
He is survived by his children, Donald Haynes and his wife, Lois, of Klamath Falls, Oregon; William Haynes and his wife, Reece of Roseburg; and D. Gail Denten and her husband, Robert, of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveyard service was held June 23, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery
