A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, he retired from Exxon Co. USA with 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 330th Engineer Regiment in the China-Burma-India Theater. He died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 1999. He was 79. Visitation at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at Comite Baptist Church, 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Danny LeBlanc, pastor of Comite Baptist Church.Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He was a charter member of Comite Baptist Church, a member of Exx-An-14 Annuitant Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. Post No. 11170. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Althee Poirier Buhler; four children, Floyd W. Buhler of Manassas, Va., Judy Buhler Bland and husband Bobby G. Bland of Baton Rouge, Hedy Buhler Fonda and husband David M. Fonda Jr. of Huntsville, Ala., and Grady J. Buhler and wife, Nancy Pope Buhler of Pride; 14 grandchildren, Aimee BuhlerGagliardone, Connie Shoemake, Jodie Sr., Randy, Russell and Randall Bland, Betty Bland Creel, Cheryl Lynn Fonda, Lisa Acklen Louque, David Max III and Tanyiska Fonda, and Rickey, Britney and Lindsey Buhler; great-grandchildren, Lauren G., Cindy, Bambi, Jodie Jr., Robert, Danielle, Alyssa, Aaron, Matthew, Joshua, Dustin, Shawn, David, Katherine, LeeAnna, Kayla, Lauren and Ryan; two great-great-grandchildren, Justin and Austen; a sister, Ouida Mae Easley of Baton Rouge; two brothers, ElmerG.
