US Attorney General from 1807-11 serving under Presidents Jefferson and Madison. US Representative from Delaware, 1803-05 and 1821-22. US Senator from Delaware, 1822-23. Appointed US Minister to Argentina in 1823 and served until his death in Buenos Aires in 1824. His uncle, also named Caesar Rodney, was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. The Argentine goverment gave Rodney a hero's funeral in a Protestant churchyard in Argentina. When attempts were made in 1999 to retinter his remains in the family cemetery in Delaware, the churchyard could not be located. Argentine authorities and the US State Department now believe he may be buried in a common grave in an unknown Buenos Aires cemetery.
