Sudie married Walker Speights and had one child, a son by the name of Kay. She met a tragic death while young. Sudie died of strychnine poisoning, and her husband served a term in the state penitentiary for murder. [After a number of years he was pardoned but did not live to enjoy his freedom. By way of celebrating his release, Speights, unable to obtain a more suitable beverage, drank hair tonic and died, ironically, of poison also.]
