Avery "Bud" Lowe was the second son of Fountain Bird, Sr., and Judy Staton Lowe. His siblings were James Pryor, John Henry, Nancy, Piety, Rebecca Jane, George Washington, Charles Brown, Lawyer, William "Bill," Anderson Hatfield "Anse," Arminda Elizabeth "Min," Prillaman "Prill," Fountain Bird, Jr., Callahan, Mary Ann, Baby Larkin, and two stillbornbabies. Avery married Sarah Maynard, the daughter of Hammond and Elizabeth "Betty" Taylor Maynard on March 28, 1878, in Pike County. They had two children, Roscoe (3/30/1879-10/8/1961) and Judy Elizabeth (3/1882-1/10/1962). Sarah died when Sis was born, and Avery and the children lived with his parents until his death from a nosebleed in the mid to late 1880's, when he died of a nosebleed when Sis was barely old enough to remember running to play with him. Roscoe and Judy "Sis" were raised by Avery's parents.
