She was born June 26, 1916 in Drivers County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Moore and Janie Walker Moore. Hattie was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick "Fred" Peal White, Sr.; daughter, Laura W. Blackburn; sister, Alice Saunders; and brothers, G. C., Herbert, Gibbs, Ben, and Leslie "Doc" Moore.
Hattie is survived by her caring family; son, F. P. White, Jr. (Betty) of Rocky Point; grandchildren, Amy Futch (Frank) of Burgaw, Wendy Barnhill (Donnie), Freddy White (Missy), and Mike Blackburn (Kim) all of Currie, Steve Blackburn of Wilmington, Angela Pauly (David) of Fayetteville and Jon Blackburn (Susan) of Texas; great grandchildren, Fred "P" White, McKenzie White, Madalyn White, Stephanie Blackburn, Trent Blackburn, Allison Blackburn, Jacob Blackburn, Hannah Montague, Kameryn Pauly, Brandon Blackburn, Heather Blackburn and Danielle Blackburn, Amy Harts and Ty Harts; sister, Ethel Lloyd (George) of Wilmington and son-in-law, Lloyd Blackburn.
Hattie loved her family and was devoted to each one of them. She was a diligent homemaker and with a joyful spirit she filled home with love and welcomed all who entered. Being a good neighbor and friend she was loved by all who knew her. Hattie's family is grateful to God for her life and they consider themselves to be very blessed to have had such a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Her life story is cherished and her memory blessed.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Long Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Bateman officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
