OAKES, Lillie M. - Age 93, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away on Thursday, November 13, 1997 at her home. She was born May 30, 1904 in Drip Rock, Kentucky, daughter of James and Rose (Powell) Webb. She was raised in Kentucky, moving to Broken Bow, Nebraska at the age of sixteen. She moved to Medford, Oregon, 19 1944. She worked at the V.A. Domiciliary in the dietetic department for many years. Lillie enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She especially loved to read. She moved to Roseburg eight years ago to be near family. She is survived by a daughter, Eula R. Hall and her husband, Art of Roseburg, two sons, Thomas “T.J” Oakes of Medford, Oregon, Gilford S. Oakes and his wife, Ursula of El Paso, Texas, a brother Claris Taylor and his wife, Goldie of Landers, California, 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 9 8/9 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel, a daughter, Margery McDonald, a sister, Christie Hall, two brothers, Harvey Webb and Claude Taylor. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at the Memory Gardens Cemetery, near Jacksonville, Oregon, on Tuesday, November 18, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Lee Gregory of the Neighborhood Church will officiate. A reception will follow the services at the Moose Lodge in Medford, Oregon. Arrangements are under the direction of TAYLOR'S FAMILY CHAPEL in Winston, Oregon.
