Dewitt Talmage Hester, Jr., 77, of Eupora died Saturday, March 6, 1999 at Webster Health Services in Eupora of heart failure.

Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 2 at Blythe Creek Cemetery near Mathiston. Rev. Smith Whiteside will officiate. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of arrangements.

A Webster County native, Mr. Hester was a former Durant resident. He was a retired Illinois Central Railroad conductor. Mr. Hester served in the U.S. Army in the Company “C” 715th Railway Operating Battalion during the Africa and Italy campaign of the European Theater operations of World War II. He was a member of the VFW Warren E Campbell Post 4488 of Grenada. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Durant.

Survivors include: wife, Orene Hester of Eupora; daughters, Robin Dickerson, Dixie Connell, Cindy Marx, and Chris Martin; sister, Margaret Hancock; brother, Dean “Biddy” Hester; and nine grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blythe Creek Cemetery at Rt.1. Box 24, Mathiston, MS 39752.
