A native of Bostwick, he had lived in Putnam County all his life. He was retired after more than 32 years at Georgia-Pacific where he worked in the Kraft Paper Machine Jordan room. He was a member of the Paper Maker's Union Local No. 1717 and he was an avid fisherman. He was a member of Etoniah Primitive Baptist Church in Bardin.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Tarter Harvey of Palatka; son, Michael Tarter of Palatka; daughter, Carolyn T. Blake of Fairfax, Va.; sister, Doris Register of Bostwick; two brothers, Bert Harvey of Middleburg, Melvin Harvey of St. Augustine; and one granddaughter.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with the Rev. Albert Altman officiating. Burial will be in Palatka Memorial Gardens. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 15 May 1992.)
