Elder John W. Hollaway,father of Capt. L.D.Hollaway, of this city, died at his residence,near Switzer,in this county,on Wednesday night, at 8 o'clock, in the 82nd year of his age. The deceased was a minister of the Christian Church for over thirty years, was a civil engineer by profession and a school teacher in the neighborhood in which he lived for forty years. He was highly respected by all who knew him; never spoke ill of his neighbor, and had for his motto during his long life, "owe no man anything." His funeral took place from North Fork Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at half past three o'clock, and was largely attended by his neighbors and friends.
