Mary Ruth Weeren married Sid Barnwell Stevenson and had three children: Mark, Sydney and Patti.

Mary Ruth Weeren Stevenson, born on August 23, 1924, passed from this earthly life into the arms of the Lord on April 28, 2022. Mary Ruth was raised in Burton, Texas (beautiful bluebonnet country) by her loving parents Gus and Juanita Weeren.

After graduating from Burton High School at the age of 16, she then attended Blinn Junior College in Brenham, Texas. She married Sid B. Stevenson of Johnson City, Texas on June 7, 1942, and were married for almost 50 years before his death in 1992.

The US Marine Corp took them to San Diego before Sid served in WWII. As wife of a career educator, they lived in Huntsville, Anahuac, Austin, Brenham, San Angelo, and Burton. Mary Ruth and Sid were charter members of College Hills Christian Church. After Sid's death, Mary Ruth returned to San Angelo and had been an active member of the First Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was active in supporting the March of Dimes, serving as Area Chairman. Mary Ruth will be remembered for her steadfast faith, quick wit and her sense of humor.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sydney Robinson of Ector, Texas, daughter Patti Lupton (Jim) of Lubbock, Texas and son Mark Stevenson (Jackie) of San Angelo; 6 grandchildren, Kathy Unger (David) of Reseda, California, Traci Jeffrey (Tom) of Bells, Texas, Eric Dugan (Yoaska) of Lake Kiowa, Texas, Matt Lupton (Courtney) of Dallas, Texas, Andy Dugan (Olivia) of Salina, Texas, Becca Williams (Lal) of Lubbock, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren and 9 great great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday May 1, 2022, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton, Texas attended by family.

The family would also like to express their appreciation of the care given by Kindred Hospice and New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care.
