John was the son of Daniel David and Elizabeth Whiteman Armantrout. He married Addie L Gierhart on May 18, 1889 in Jay Co. Indiana. To this union issue was born.

"John William Armantrout was born October 14, 1865, in Jay County, Indiana. He came to North Texas in 1918, thence to Live Oak County in 1920. He has resided here since that time.

Mr. Armantrout died at his country home on Dec. 26, 1935, after a month's illness with heart trouble. He leaves his companion, five children, four grandchildren, one brother and three sisters to mourn his death. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias.

His body was laid to rest in the Three Rivers Cemetery Friday afternoon, after funeral services at his home conducted by Rev. J. M. Lewis, pastor of the George West Methodist Church.

The children left to mourn his death are Mrs. J. D. Derrough, Live Oak County, Texas; D. W. Armantrout, Live Oak County, Texas; Miss Grace Armantrout, George West, Texas; Clarence Armantrout, Arkansas, and Mrs. Fred Ely, Michigan.
