Carmel Marie "Candy" Rizzo was born on May 3, 1948 in Forest Park, Cook County, Illinois, the daughter of Michael J Rizzo (1906–1980).

After high school, she worked for many years at the Ferrara Pan Candy Company in Forest Park. Then, in 1981 she moved to Pasadena, Los Angeles County, California with her mother to be near her brother and his family. While living in Pasadena, she worked at Goodwill Industries and the Foothill Workshop for the Handicapped. She had a smart-alecky wit, a phenomenal memory and was accomplished at knitting. After braking her hip in an accident, she lived at Rose Garden Convalescent Center.

In Pasadena, Candy was 64 years old when she passed away on February 5, 2013.

Survivors included her brother, a niece, an uncle and six cousins.

Burial was on February 15th in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
