He was born in Wood County, a son of the late David C. and Nina (Gahagan) Grant.
He retired in 1984 from Acme Fishing Tool Company after 38 years. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the infantry in World War II. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing and was an amateur radio operator (HAM). He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Donald D. and Roxie Grant of Parkersburg; two daughters, Carol Ann Adams of Washington, W.Va., and Eleanor F. Schau and her husband, Dale, of Williamstown; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bernard Grant of Las Vegas, Nev.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Mae (Stephens) Grant; two sons, Gerald L. and Brian W. Grant; two brothers, Paul and Robert Grant; and three sisters, Eleanor Pistole, Ruth Barton and Bernice O'Dell.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Broadway Baptist Church with Pastor Don Yeager officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery South with military honors by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
