Lillian Irene Waddell Crum, 83, Tuesday, at Signature HealthCARE Center with her loved ones at her side.

Born Jan. 12, 1928, in Greeneville, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Julia Waddell.

She left this world for the peace and wholeness of life with Christ. She was a true Southern Lady, gracious and gentle, and a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.

She was a sincere Methodist and proud to be a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible daily and listening to southern gospel music.

She always enjoyed cooking on Sundays for her family. Every Sunday after church, her home on the Asheville Highway was filled with loved ones to eat her famous "Sunday Dinner." She loved Irises and Roses, fine dishware, clothing, and Pralines and Cream ice cream.

She and her late husband of 43 years, Reed, enjoyed and participated in the Order of the Eastern Star. She and her husband were members of the Greeneville Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and later on started and were charter members of the Beersheba Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She also at one time, held a State Grand Office as Martha.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Danny and Diane Crum of Afton; two daughters and sons-in-law: Kay and Roger Ford and Cathy and Joe Laughters, all of Greeneville; three grandchildren: Mark Laughters and wife, Lisa, Alan Laughters, and Hollie Shelton and husband, Johnathan, of Yokota, Japan; seven great-grandchildren: Tyler, Madison, Olivia, Noah, and Taylor Laughters, and Kaylah and Alyssa Shelton; a sister and brother-in-law: Barbara and Gordon Lowe of Nashville; a brother and sister-in-law: Don and Patsy Waddell of Greeneville; two sisters-in-law: Arlene Stills and Norma Waddell; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis and Ralph Waddell.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Martha Beamer and the Rev. David Dugger will officiate.

A committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will meet at 9:30 to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
