Carolyn J. Anderson, age 88, of Valparaiso, IN, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Porter Hospital.
She was born May 18, 1919 in North Liberty, IN the daughter of George and Mabel (Schrader) Anderson, graduated from North Liberty High School, received her B.A. in Education from Manchester College and her Masters in Education from Ball State University. She had been an elementary teacher for 45 years beginning at Green Township School, Walkerton Schools and then as a 4th grade teacher for many years at Valparaiso's Northview Elementary School retiring in 1984. She will be fondly remembered by her family and neighbors for the thriving flower garden that she lovingly cared for at her home. Survivors include two sisters: Lois Anderson of Valparaiso, Bernice Krieve of Los Angeles, CA; three brothers: Paul (Marilee) Anderson of Walkerton, Virgil (Avis) Anderson of West Lafayette, Frederic (Peggy) Anderson of Florence, SC; two sisters-in-law Mary Anderson of Lexington, KY, Dolores Anderson of Muncie and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers Herbert Anderson of North Liberty and Richard Anderson of Lexington, KY. Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a memorial visitation will be held Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. with her nephew and niece, Rev. Doug Anderson and retired Major Rev. Janet Anderson officiating. Private burial of ashes will follow at North Liberty Cemetery.
