Robert "Bob" Wallace Shaneyfelt
Mr. Robert "Bob" Wallace Shaneyfelt, 84, of Hilo, Hawaii Died on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at his residence.
He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on June 15, 1919. He was an art teacher retired from Mojave High School in California. He also taught at Harmer School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Bob volunteered freely in the community. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Hilo Missionary Church and was a US Army Veteran, World War II.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Hilo Missionary Church, 1044 Komohana Street. Funeral Service at 11 a.m with burial to follow at 1 p.m. at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2, in Hilo.
Bob is survived by wife, Margaret "Maggie" Shaneyfelt of Hilo, Hawaii; sons, William "Bill" (Linda) Shaneyfelt of Dayton, Ohio, Thomas "Tom" (Celia) Shaneyfelt of Old Fort, Tennessee, Jon (Carol) Shaneyfelt of Erwin, Tennessee; Ted (Siu Ying) Shaneyfelt of Papaikou, Hawaii; daughters, Margo (Paul) Wilson of Tennessee, Cecelia "CC" (Charlie) Coggins of Mansfield, Louisiana, Betty (Kenny) Finch of Bakersfield, California, Shirley (Roy) Cook of Rockwood, Tennessee; brother: S. Wayne (Remy) Shaneyfelt of Bangkok, Thailand; sisters, Betty Williams of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ethel Barnett of Warsaw, Indiana, Mildred Sitcler of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary, Inc., Hilo Branch, Funeral Director is Gavin J. Kaisen.
Bob contributed generously of his time, talent, & treasure to churches, schools, and community. He was especially noted for his signs, posters, and designs. He was a volunteer to Habitat for Humanity & also built a home for his family everywhere he went. He will be remembered for his unselfish devotion to family and community.
Son of Shirley Elery Shaneyfelt and Beatrice Vernon Barto. Married Margaret Elizabeth Virtue on March 14, 1943.
