Frances Turner Smith, 84, of 948 Ingalls Street, Clifton Forge died Sunday evening, October 13, 2002, a the Brian Center Nursing Center in Low Moor. She was born in Selma, Virginia on July 9, 1919 a daughter of the late Arthur Campbell and Lillie Martin Turner. She was a retired Sales Person at the former Carolyn Shoppe ladies wear in Clifton Forge. She was a member of the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, a member of the Sara Linn Bible Class and Nettie Paul Circle of the Church. She was a member of the Clifton Forge Women's Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Benjamin Smith, Jr. and by her son Russell Benjamin "Rusty" Smith III.
She is survived by her daughter in law Patricia Smith of Clifton Forge; a brother Houston Turner of Selma, Va.; 2 grandchildren Russell Smith IV and Sandra Leigh Smith; a number of nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Scott Bean and Rev. W. Pembroke Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 7 - 8:30 P.M. at Nicely Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Sibold, Jr. James Vest, Ronnie Irvine, Tommy Fridley, Clyde Martin , and Casey Gibson.
