Sara S. Thompson Beard
Services were held November 12 from Wright and Ferguson High Street Chapel for Sara Summers Thompson Beard of Kings Highway. The Revs. Harold Fleming and William M. Beard III officiated.
Mrs. Beard, 89, died November 9 at Whispering Pines Hospice,
A native of Jackson, Mrs. Beard was a life long member of Galloway Memorial United Methodist church. She was a member of Jackson High School Class of 1924; Kappa Delta Sorority at the University of Mississippi and Millsaps College where she received her bachelor's degree; the Mississippi Artists Guild; and the Mississippi Watercolor Society.
Survivor's are her daughter Gabrielle B. Beard of Greensboro, N. C.; son William M. Beard Jr. of Jackson; granddaughter Amanda Beard and grandson William M. Beard III; nephew Charles Dixon Shamel and his wife Barbara Wykert Shamel; and several grand nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Whispering Pines Hospice Building Fund, 1480 Raymond Rd., Jackson, 39204.
Pallbearers were John Anderson, Billy Thompson, Billy Martinson, Wiley Carter, Jimmy McKay, Woody Cox and Webb Buie.
Burial was in the Crystal Springs Cemetery.
