Israel B. B. Stevens was 59y. 8 mos. and 23 days old when he died Saturday, 12:06 AM, Nov. 30th. [1901] at his home, of Sclerosis of the Lungs during his last five months. He came to Mineral Point as a young boy, having been born in New Hampshire and was employed at the Zinc Works in Mineral Point and member of Mineral Point Camp No. 1201, Modern Woodmen of America Lodge. He and Ann E. Harris were married 2 Nov 1861 in Mineral Point, Wisconsin and had five children. The name on his death cert. is listed as J B B Stevens, the "J" being incorrect for "I" (Israel), found in Vol. 5, D/C # 256 / 463, dated 1 Dec 1901 with Eastman & Baily MD as "other"; Burial Permit # 199; A.F. Bishop as undertaker. His D/C gives his birth date as March 7, 1842, New Hampshire, son of Hiram and Sallie Stevens, both parents listed as born in America. I realize his tombstone's birth date says "27" but... *This birth date on his tombstone conflicts with 1. D/C birth date listed(as 7 Mar 1842) and 2) the date based on the Georgian Calendar calculation using his death date and D/C age given (yrs. mos. days= 7 Mar 1842). Both of these sources concur his Birth date as: 7 March 1842.

*Have to wonder if any of my family members were patrons of Thomas Davey's Jewelry Store. See FAG # 119272769, especially my Cornish and English ancestors.
