Edith Johnson Shannon, 87, resident of 111 Avondale Road, widow of Willie R. Shannon, died February 9, 2013 at Hospice House. Born in Belhaven NC, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Ada Kirk Johnson. Mrs. Shannon was retired from Greenwood Mills, Durst Plant, and was a member of South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Ever Ready Sunday School Class. Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth Shannon and Wileene Gunnells and husband Donald, all of Greenwood; three granddaughters, Shannon Crocker and husband Bryan of Greenwood, Jennifer Price of Mt. Pleasant and Jessica Gunnells of Greenwood; six great-grandchildren, Morgan and Madison Crocker, Chance and Pierson Price and Kaden and Skylar Fallaw; one sister-in-law, Rennie F. Johnson of Belhaven NC; one niece and two nephews. Mrs. Shannon was predeceased by a brother, Riley R. Johnson, a sister, Violet J. Paul and a nephew, Edward Paul, Jr. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Blyth Funeral Home.
