Angelica Lavara Aadland was born in Sisseton, SD on June 11, 1986 to Dale and Rebecca (Heminger) Aadland. She attended Elementary School in Fargo/Moorhead and graduated from Wilmot High School in 2005. She attended Sisseton Wahpeton Community College for a short time. Angelica was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor when she was 15 years old. She underwent surgery and radiation. She then had a second recurrence with a tumor in her brain, neck and spine. She made it through that and later had a third diagnosis of an untreatable cancer. Angelica was a very strong person and never complained about her situation. She would be more concerned for others and trying to help them. She did do Youth Ministry and told her story about her cancer through music. Angelica was very accepting to her fate and ready to meet Christ. She had a passion for art and enjoyed Vincent Van Gogh's paintings. She enjoyed going to Fort Sisseton Rendezvous, making dream catchers, hemp necklaces, earrings, rings, and teepee stakes. She had an orange 1973 Volkswagen and a collection of Betty Boop. Angelica passed away on February 6, 2013 at her home in rural Wilmot, SD with her family at her side. Angelica is survived by her parents Dale and Becky Aadland of Wilmot, SD; one sister Amanda and Aaron Rodengen of Canby, MN; brother Aaron and Moonlight Aadland of Peever Flats, SD; brother Anthony Aadland and Morgan Bubach in U.S. deployed services; nieces Lily Ann Aadland, Angelina Angelica Aadland, and Laila Jade Rodengen of Canby, MN; grandmother Mrs. Grace Aadland of Sisseton, SD; and her beloved dog Oscar.
