ALBERTS, Earl Leroy, age 93 of Fenton, died Saturday, February 9, 2013. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with Rev. Walter McConkey, Rev. William Brew, Rev. Mark Alberts, and Rev. Jim Olah officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Genesee County Child Evangelism Fellowship, 800 Louisa St., Mt. Morris, MI 48458.

Earl was born March 20, 1919 in Holly, the son of George and Ida (Freeman) Alberts. He was a 1937 graduate and valedictorian of Fenton High School. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army and also served as Sergeant Major of 1612 SCU WA Personnel Center at Fort Sheridan, IL from 1944-1946. Earl married Mildred Schillinger October 11, 1941 in Fenton and she preceded him in death August 14, 2005. He retired in 1979 from Chevrolet Flint Manufacturing as Administrative Supervisor after 40 years of service. He was the last living charter member of Fenton Bible Church. Earl was also a member of Genesee County Child Evangelism Fellowship, DAV, and IFCA International, and was a former teacher at the Flint Bible Institute. He did a lot of traveling over the years and has been in all 50 states and many countries overseas.

Surviving are: 4 children, Melba Zbik of Citrus Heights, CA, Norma Kirkland of Rives Junction, Dianna Alberts of Fenton and Mark and wife Cynthia Albert of Mt. Morris; son-in-law James Olah of Davison; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren plus several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter Nancy Olah; son-in-law Donald Kirkland; grandson Aaron Alberts; sister Hazel Crowder; and 2 brothers Harold and Floyd Alberts.
