Jerold Ernest Sievers was
born to Ernest and Helga
Sievers on February 9,1938
at Newell, Iowa.
Welcoming him to the
family was his sister,
Ardith (Mrs. James Shirk)
now living in Arizona.
Jerold attended and
graduated from the Newell
Providence School.
Following graduation he
served 6 1/2 years with the
National Guard Reserve
Unit.
On May 28, 1961 he was
married to Marie Cline in
the Newell United
Methodist Church.
To this union two
daughters, Joni and Amy
were born.
After his father's death,
Jerold and his brother - inlaw,
Jim Shirk became
operators of the family
business.
Following Jim's retirement from the business
Jerold became the sole
owner and operator until
his health forced him to
discontinue the business.
Jerold was very active in
civic affairs, serving on the
Newell Chamber of
Commerce Board, Newell
City Council, and the First
National Bank Board.
His hobbies were the gun
club, being a ham radio
operator, woodworking,
gardening, and fishing with
friends.
Jerold passed away Sept.
6,1988 at the Newell Good
Samaritan Center
following a lingering illness
of Pick's Disease.
He was loved by all and
especially known by his
family and friends for his
unique sense of humor.
He is survived by bis wife
Marie, daughters, Joni
and Amy, his sister and
brother-in-law, Ardith
and Jim Shirk of Arizona,sister-in-law and brother
-in-law, Marilyn and Jim
Christensen of Newell,
mother-in-law, Claudine
Cline of Newell, brother-in
-law, Jim and Kathy Cline
of Conn., father-in-law,
Ronald Cline of Arizona,
step-father, Ivan Anderson
of Storm Lake.
