A native of Grundy, Va., he had resided in Putnam County for 45 years, coming from Haysi, Va. He had worked for 35 years as a recovery operator on the recovery boiler at Georgia-Pacific. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was a Bronze Star Medal recipient. He was also a member of Palatka Moose Lodge No. 184, the Sweetwater Hunt Club and Local Pack No. 30. As his hobbies, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Maxie Owens Fuller; and a niece, Kristen Eckman.
He is survived by his wife of five years, Stacey Fuller, Palatka; two daughters, Allison Fuller, Interlachen and Tia Adkins, Palatka; his mother-in-law, Linda Eckman, Palatka; a half-sister, Myrna Campbell, Grundy, Va.; his brother-in-law, Henry (Melissa) Eckman, Palatka; Douglas Eckman Jr., Johnson; a sister-in-law, Crystal Adkins, Palatka; six nephews, two nieces and special friends of the family.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 18 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Bro. Charles Litzell officiating. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens with the U.S. Army conducting military honors. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 17 Dec 2003.)
