He was the son of the late Omar and Ora Davis Price born on January 30, 1921 in Deposit, NY. Ed married the love of his life, Jennie, in 1941. They were married for 62 years before her passing in 2004.
Edwin proudly served our country in the United States Army Air Corp and fought for our freedom in the South Pacific during World War II. For seventeen years he was a commander of the VFW Post 1575 and Veteran State Legislator. He was a County Commander of the VFW in Sullivan County and a historian with District 2. He was an instrumental part of obtaining the current monument which stands at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery. He was past Chief of the Hurleyville Fire Police and member of the fire department for 58 years. He was a member and trustee of the United Methodist Church in Hurleyville, the Liberty Grange and the IBEW Local #363. For many years he worked as an electrician for the Local 806 until he retired.
In 1950 Ed moved to Hurleyville and made this his home and chose to raise his four children there. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, member of the community and friend to all that knew and loved him; he will be sorely missed.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his children: Carol Hummel and her husband, Ray, George Price and his wife, Olga, Ruth Forest and her husband, Dick, and Vicki Gold and her husband, Michael; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Robert and Raymond Price, and Dorothy Dailey, many brother and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Roscoe Regional Nursing Home for their respectful and compassionate care they gave our dad the last two years and for caring and loving him as if he was their own family.
Interment in Hurleyville Cemetery with full military honors.
