Robert C. "Bob" Pelfrey died without pain at MD Anderson Cancer Center on the 5th of February 2013, after putting up one hell of a two and a half -year battle with stomach cancer.

A resident of Houston, TX for 31 years, Bob was born to Charles and Opal Pelfrey on the 18th of August 1955 in Detroit, MI and raised in Wyandotte, MI. Bob and his father enjoyed participating in the Boy Scouts of America – Detroit Area Council. Bob was a Life Scout with Troop 1773 and attended the National Jamboree in Idaho in 1969, where he and the other scouts watched Neil Armstrong walk on the moon. Bob was an alumnus of Central Michigan University.

Bob moved to Houston to work with Joe Tondu at Tondu Interests, an oil and gas company, where they developed the TES Filer City Cogeneration Power Plant; a feat that took perseverance, dedication, and five years. Bob went on to work for a number of smaller companies before retiring to travel with the family in their RV during the summer months. He loved to drive and the family saw a major portion of the U.S. as well as many NASCAR races during those summer months. Bob was also a devoted moderate Republican who helped elect numerous Republicans to office. Bob chose to return to work in 2007 and completed his working career as the Deputy Assistant Treasurer to the Harris County Treasurer, Orlando Sanchez. Bob was a good and fair man and enjoyed working with "my girls". He missed them greatly when he could no longer work.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Charles D. Pelfrey. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kerin, children, Cory Lynn and Ryan, and his mother, Opal Pelfrey. Bob is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the dedicated and compassionate doctors and nurses at MD Anderson, especially the Acute Palliative Care staff, including Dr. Neha Didwanija and nurses, EJ and Chanelle. A special thank you goes to Dr. Alexandra Phan for her efforts, guidance, and support.

The memorial service in celebration of his life is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, 9th of February, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Deacon Dale Steffes, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.

For those desiring, contributions in Bob's name may be directed to the Star of Hope Mission, 6897 Ardmore, Houston, TX, 77054; or to Open Door Mission, 5803 Harrisburg Blvd, Houston, TX, 77011.
