US Congressman. A long time Salem County, New Jersey merchant, he served during the Revolutionary War as a Captain in the New Jersey Militia, and in the New Jersey State Legislature. After the ratification of the United States Constitution, he was elected as an At-Large Delegate to the First Congress as one of New Jersey's first four Congressmen (the others being Elias Boudinot, John Schureman and Lambert Cadwalader). He served from March 4, 1789 to March 3, 1791, then ran again a few years later and was re-elected as a Federalist. He served his second term from March 4, 1797 to March 3, 1799. His nephew and namesake was New Jersey Congressman Thomas Sinnickson (1786 to 1873).
