FUNERAL HELD FOR MRS. LETTIE SALLING
Funeral services were held at the chapel of Moore and Craft Funeral Home Wednesday for Mrs. Lettie Webb Salling, 88. The Rev. Allen Mitchell and the Rev. Jake King officiated. Burial was in the Lewis Cemetery at Sandlick.
Mrs. Salling died Sunday at the Whitesburg Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Letcher County and was a daughter of the late Jason L. and Loudemia Hubbard Webb. She was the last surviving child in her family. She was the widow of Henry William Salling.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Nan Lou Enlow of Whitesburg; Mrs. Dana Soward of San Carlos, Calif., and Mrs. June Webb of Hazard; two sons, Carl Salling, Detroit, Michigan, and Robert William (Bill) Salling, Washington, D.C.; 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Seven children died earlier.
Mrs. Salling was a charter member of the Sergent Methodist Church.
Her brother, the late Nehemiah Webb, was the founder of The Mountain Eagle.
