Thomas William Blount with Unidentified Soldier,ca 1861-1865, from the Blount family estate, San Augustine. Blount(1839-1934) may have been first Texan to volunteer, says "he was at the organization of the Confederate States at Montgomery, AL,February-March,1861. Blount's father was a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence."
