Erastus L. Brown was born in Ohio July 15, 1849, and departed this life January 13, 1924, at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 29 days.
His boyhood days were spent in Ohio, coming to Michigan when a young man. He was united in marriage to Miss Esther Vrooman May 14, 1870, she preceeding him August 24, 1919. To them were born six children, five of whom are living, Miss Lyda, Mrs. Emma McMurray, Bert and Alba of Colon, Mrs. Fred Conn of St. Johns, also fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who mourn his loss.
Mr. Brown has lived in Colon and vicintiy for the past twenty-seven years. He was a kind and loving father, a good neighbor to all who knew him. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30, Rev. Deane officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in Lakeside Cemetery.
