John S. Baitinger, age 84, of Alloway Twp. passed away Friday, February 1st at his home. Born in Deerfield he was the son of the late Paul and Eliza Cattell Baitinger. Mr. Baitinger was an instrument engineer among other things for the E.I. DuPont Co. Chambers Works. He loved to fly his plane and was a member of the Quiet Birdmen an exclusive elite Pilot Fraternity. He flew Angel of Mercy missions for Air Life Line. Everyone knew John as a loving and devoted husband of 47 years to his "Baby Doll". He was a kind, generous and giving man, who was always doing something for someone else, but he would wrestle you for a turkey drumstick.

Mr. Baitinger is survived by his wife the former Maryellen Shimp; son, John Baitinger (Kathy) of Gibbstown; stepson, Evan P. Scott (Lottie) of Pennsville; daughters, Diane Korp (Tom) of Laurence Harbor, NJ and Bonnie Shiles of Chesapeake City, MD; brother, Paul G Baitinger Jr. of Bridgeton; sister, Jean Van Vliet of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Evan Scott Jr., Noelle Randal, Bethany Edwards, Susanna Cardinale, Melissa Baitinger Anderson (Jared), Joseph Schmidt and Kimberly Schmidt; great grandchildren, Sydney, Mackenzie, Noah, Riley, Skyler, Ronan and one on the way; and many nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by sisters, Marian Dwyer, Helen Reaser, Harriet Rector and Ann Gubbine.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 6th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd., Rt. 49, Quinton Twp. where friends may call after 10:00 AM and also Tuesday evening, February 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Salem Baptist Cemetery.
