NEOSHO, MO —

G. Leo Johnson, 90, entered into rest on Feb. 7, 2013, at his home, following a sudden illness.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1922, in Neosho, Mo., to Thomas T. and Charlotte (Bartelmae) Johnson.

Leo was a lifelong area resident and had many accomplishments. Early in his working career, he was employed as a Granby miner. He then went to Pet Milk in Neosho, and then worked as a machinist at ICI in Joplin, Mo., until his retirement in March 1985. He also helped to build Camp Crowder in the early 1940s. Leo was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was honored with five Bronze Stars. He loved to fish and spending time with his great-granddaughter, Nora Elise Durham.

Leo married Hildegarde Cook on June 18, 1945, in Columbus, Kan. She preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 2010.

He is survived by his daughter, Eva Lea and husband, Rich Willis, of Granby, Mo.; two grandchildren, Ryan Lee Willis, of Granby, and Shanna Durham, of Northlake, Texas; and one great-grandchild, Nora Elise Durham.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Granby Memorial Park Cemetery, Granby.
