Monroe Evening News Death Notice published April 18 1997 reads:
MERVYN D. ALLEN, 76, of Toledo, who has relatives in Monroe County, died Thursday morning in Toledo Hospital. Services are at 10:30a.m. today in the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Rd., and a Mass at 11 in St. Theresa of the Little Flower Catholic Church, Toledo. Burial will be in Ubly, Michigan.
Born Feb. 26, 1921, in Ubly, he was the son of Melvin and Irene Allen. He married Virginia M. Brescol on March 18, 1944.
A World War II veteran, he was a cement mason for 40 years with Local 886. An avid bowler, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church for 38 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Ron of Lambertville and David Sr. of Swanton Ohio; 2 daughters, Mrs. Bill (Barbara) Carpenter of Napoleon Ohio and Mrs. David (Diane) Jurski of Toledo; 2 brothers, Melvin (Duane) of Monroe and Navarre of Detroit; 1 sister Norma Coppis of Maryland; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Alden (Packy) and William; 1 sister, Patricia, and 1 grandson, Jamie DeBlaere.
