Corinth - Funeral services for Donald R. Allen, 76, are set for 2 p.m. today at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Kara Blackard and Bro. Ray Bennett officiating. Burial will be at the Wheeler Grove Baptist church Cemetery under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home.
Mr. Allen died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2010, at his residence. He was born Sept. 14, 1933. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends and always put his family first, especially his wife, Agnes. He enjoyed gardening, keeping his yard pretty and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Willie Frank Allen and Florence Latch Allen; brothers, Raymond Allen, Frank Allen and wife Daisy, Bobby Joe Allen, Dennis Aller and wife Violet, Marcus Allen and R.C. Allen; and sisters, Mary Lou Wilson and husband Wiley, Helen Barker, Virginia Allen, earnestine Allen and Nelda Allen.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Agnes Allen of Corinth; son, Chris Allen and wife Vicki of Corinth; daughter, Donna Benjamin and husband Jim of Corinth, granddaughter, Kacie Blakey and husband Chris of Corinth; would have been the proud great-grandfather of Lainey Grace Blakey due in October 2010; brother, Grady Allen and wife Melba of Corinth; sister, Shirley Horton and husband Hoyt of Corinth; brother-in-law, Milton Barker and wife Nell of Corinth; sisters-in-law, Elsie Allen and Lavada Allen, both of Corinth; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are Randy Latch, Eddie Price, Dwight Wilson, Sammy Allen, Wade Allen and David Allen.
Visitation will continue from noon until service time today at the church.
