Vincent Cartier, age 91 of Ocean Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
Born in Bronx, NY, he lived in Middletown for 51 years before moving to Ocean Township in 2011.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Vincent was the twin brother and manager of the late professional boxer Walter Cartier. The two were the subject of Stanley Kubrick's first film, a 1951 short black and white documentary named "Day of the Fight". The documentary was based on Kubrick's 1949 photo feature of the two in Look Magazine. Vincent went on to become an Attorney at Law practicing in both Newark and Jersey City for 53 years before retiring in 2003. He is a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, West End.
He was predeceased by his parents Margaret E (née Reilly) and Charles J. Cartier; his brothers Charles and Walter; his sister Marjorie; and a granddaughter, Pietra Ferrara. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Frances Bova Cartier; his son Walter and his partner Glenn of New York City; his son Michael and his wife Lorraine of Estell Manor; his daughter Lisa Ferrara and her husband Vincent of Ocean Township; as well as five grandchildren, Vinny, Nick and Gabrielle Ferrara and Marissa and Andrew Cartier.
Visitation will be held at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue, Long Branch, NJ. Funeral will be at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michaels Church, West End, NJ. Interment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery & Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ.
