Andrew Jackson Daugherty was born in Fayette, OH. He left OH at the age of 16 with his parents John & Sarah Rhodes Daugherty and all of his siblings. They settled in Rochester, Fulton County, IN after 1840. They do show up in the Rochester,census of 1850.

He moved to Starke County where he raised his family. He came from a long line of farmers and his children and many of his grandchildren were also farmers. One of his sons James Wesley Daugherty, my grandfather, was also a farmer and well known horse trader.
