Lakeland - Samuel "Sam" Jonathan Hampton, 24, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Sam was born November 14, 1988 in Tampa FL. He was a lifelong resident of Winter Haven. Sam was a business manager of a cattle ranch. He was a member of Tampa Car Meet and the Ferrari Club of Tampa Bay. He is survived by his mother, Lynn Hampton, and his aunt, Leigh Hampton.

Sam loved many things such as food, cars, and traveling but nothing gave him more joy than doing these things with his friends. Sam did not pull punches, but rather told you how he felt. If you were in his life, it is because he wanted you there. Sam was the kind of man who would do anything for his friends. Sam loved food, he shared his food. Sam loved cars, he shared his cars. Sam loved to see the world, but he chose not see it alone. Sam loved God, he shared his God. His giving nature was a testament to his fine upbringing and his genuine relationship with Jesus.

Sam would not want us to mourn for him; he lived a life of adventure and passed the way he wanted to, beside his best friend. Sam loved to travel; he loved adventure and honestly would not have it any other way. He is now living the greatest adventure and still has his best friend by his side.

A visitation will be conducted in Sam's honor, Friday, February 8, 2013, from 6-8pm at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 South Bartow Highway in Lakeland. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 11am at Church of the Son, 4484 North John Young Parkway in Orlando. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, Sam's family requests that donations be made in his memory, to Faith in Action, P.O Box 451346, Kissimmee, FL 34744.
-------------
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there - I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints in snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
As you awake with morning's hush
I am the swift-up-flinging rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there - I did not die.
