WEST KENNEBUNK, ME – Lillian Florida Adjutant, 94 years, of West Kennebunk, died February 4, 2013 at the Portland Center for Assisted Living after a period of declining health.
Lillian was born October 10, 1918 in New Market, NH, a daughter of Paul and Florida (Cote) Roels. She attended New Market Schools and worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during WWII. She later worked at Kesslen Shoe in Kennebunk and retired from Somersworth Shoe in Somersworth, NH. She married Richard Adjutant on October 17, 1936.
Lillian loved her family and enjoyed sewing and gardening. She loved the outdoors and was fond of taking walks in the woods and watching the birds. Cardinals were her favorite and she enjoyed feeding them in the winter. She was a hard worker and was always active. She enjoyed caring for others.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard and her daughter, Sheila Adjutant.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Gruhn of Stratham, NH; her granddaughters, Tracy (Tuttle) Andrews of Dana Point, CA, Kimberly (Tuttle) Thompson of Glen Allen, VA, and Jennifer (McPhee) Tucci of Cornish, ME; and seven great grandchildren.
A Visiting Hour will be held on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2013 from noon to 1 PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following at 1 pm at the Bibber Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place at a later time in Pine Grove Cemetery in West Kennebunk.
