His voice was a fixture on local radio airwaves WGIG and WMOG in the 1950s and 1960s, spinning rock and roll and gospel music; his voice was heard on Trader Jack, News Around the Town and Glynn Academy football games, including the 1964 State Championship game. Marvin was on the radio on various stations for over 50 years until his retirement from The Fan Sports Radio in 2007. He was nominated for the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Radio Hall of Fame in 2010. Marvin loved his family, photography and nature. He took thousands of photos, slides and film of every place he visited and passed that passion on to his granddaughters. He loved the Golden Isles so much that he wrote a poem about a tree that once stood downtown. That poem, "Ode To An Oak Tree" was published in the local papers and read on radio over a period of several years. He loved to travel; he and Marie took many cruises and met people from all over the world. His last cruise was with family to Alaska in 2010. Marvin always had his bag ready for an impromptu trip with his girls. Chicago, Seattle, Orlando, Dallas, Boston, Hilton Head, Charleston, Nashville and Salt Lake City were all stops on his itinerary in the last few years.

Marvin spent many happy hours in his retirement taking care of his granddaughters and catering to their every whim. Their many adventures included the beach, parks, and of course, getting ice cream. In addition to Mr. Massey's parents he is preceded in death by the love of his life, Marie Little Massey, after nearly 52 years of marriage.
