Shawn Michael Nash, 39, of Shepherd, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital with his family at his side.
Shawn was born in Great Falls on Friday, Feb. 9, 1973, the son of Vern and Robin Nash.

Shawn attended Lockwood Elementary until moving to Shepherd in 1984, graduating in l991. Shawn loved being in the mountains, hunting and fishing. Shawn got his first Elk at age 12, hunting at Gardiner with his dad and uncle Kim. He was a member of the Billings Motorcycle Club. In l990 he finished his racing season as a state Champion on his 125cc Kawasaki. With his friend Blake, they created the first in-truck swimming pool at the Great American Championship Hill Climb in 1991.

Shawn enlisted in the Navy in 1991 serving on the USS Moinester, a fast frigate trainer, then assigned to the USS Lake Erie, a guided missile cruiser, assigned to HSL-37 Easy Riders as a Helicopter Aviation Electronic Tech stationed at Naval Air Station Barber Point Hawaii. He was deployed to the Persian Gulf while assigned to the Lake Erie and was honorably discharged in 1999.

Shawn enjoyed shooting at the Quigley Rifle Match at Forsyth with his sister Kelly and dad. He also enjoyed woodworking, designing cabins and helping his dad get his winter supply of wood.

Shawn, along with his cousin Will, enjoyed riding their bicycles down the East Boulder Canyon Road to the Highway 9 miles.

Shawn is survived by his parents, Vern and Robin; his children Matthew Kelly Dakota Ryan, Kayleigh Rose; his sister Kelly and husband Killabrew and nephew Aiden Patric; his aunts, uncles and cousins; extended family Doris Lindsey Baldry; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Tom and Louvina Boucher, Floyd and Verna Nash, and great-grandparents Vern and Ruby Piper.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Faith Chapel, Broadwater entrance.

Interment will be at Mountview Cemetery. The casket is closed at his request.
