Charles B. Benner Sr., 68 of Pittsburg died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday February 3, 2012 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

He was born August 25, 1944 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Raymond Earl and Eva Mae (Taylor) Benner. He attended Pittsburg school and was a 1963 graduate of Pittsburg High School. Charles had been a resident of the Pittsburg area for over 50 years except for about 10 years at which time he lived in Pennsylvania.

Charles was a veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1963-1967.

He worked for Pitt Plastics as a Security Guard.

Survivors include a son Charles Bruce Benner Jr. of Pittsburg; 3 brothers Raymond Benner, Paul Benner, Jack Pryor all of Pittsburg; a sister Mary Heater of El Dorado, KS and 5 Grandchildren-Casey, Sarah, Cavin, Charles III and Brookelynn. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Kay.
Memorial graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday February 8, 2013 at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg. The Pittsburg American Legion will provide flag presentation ceremonies.
