Mary Ann Gardner, 16, born in St. Augustine. She arrived at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES) as a 7th grader in February 2009. She and her mother Laura passed away in a fire at their Falls Church, Virginia, home in the early morning hours of January 23, 2013.

Throughout her time at KDES and Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD), Mary Ann was a junior, she was very active and engaged in all aspects of both schools.
She was an honors student, a member of the soccer and cheerleading teams, and actively involved in after-school programs, including the Student Body Government and Jr. NAD.

Mary Ann is survived by her father, Joseph Gardner; and two brothers, James and Jody Gardner.

Mary Ann and her mother Laura will be laid to rest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
