Funeral services for
Peter James De Jong were
held March 2, 1978 at the
Second Christian Reformed
Church of Pella with Rev.
Henry Petersen officiating.
Mr. De Jong, 61, died Feb. 27,
1978 at his home in Pella.

Organist at the funeral was Mrs. Henry
Lee Stursma. Vocalists were Gelmer Nieuwsma,
Ray Klyn, Marion Klyn and Lester Klyn who
were accompanied by Mrs. Marion Klyn.

Casket bearers were Myron De Jong, Junior W.
De Jong, Edward Vant Sant, Ronald Vroegh,
Marvin Veenstra and Eddie Veenstra.

Burial was at the Black Oak Cemetery
near Pella. The Garden Chapel Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born Jan. 10, 1917 at Leighton, he
was the son of Martin P. and Marie Van
Wyngarden De Jong. On Sept. 6, 1945,
he married Nellie Vroegh at Peoria.
They were engaged in farming near
Leighton until 1971 when they retired
to Pella. Mr. De Jong served in the U. S.
Army for three and one-half years during
World War II.

He is survived by his widow; his father,
Martin P. De Jong, of Pella; one sister,
Cornelia (Mrs. Lambert) Veenstra of Taintor;
and two brothers, Henry W. of Lynnville, and
Rev. Wilbur L. of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Mr. De Jong was preceded in death by his
mother; one son, Melvin Wayne; and one sister,
Wilma, who died in infancy.

Memorials may be sent to Christian
Opportunity Center and the American
Heart Fund.
