Elmyra J. Pope, 80, of 4610 139th Street, Chippewa Falls, town of Hallie, died Sunday, October 25, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls.

She was born August 27, 1918, in Tilden, the daughter of Otto and Florence (Poirer) Bowe. She married Leonard T. Pope on June 14, 1952, in Eau Claire. They moved to Wausau in 1955 where she waitressed and raised her children. In 1967, they purchased a resort on Moose Lake in Hayward which they ran until 1977. They retired on Moose Lake until 1988 when they moved to Chippewa Falls.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard T. and her children by Leonard T; Susan (Jerry) Ross of Hayward, Leonard G. (Paula) Pope of Chippewa Falls, Penny "Elmyra" (Dennis) Lannigan of Eau Claire, John (Robin) Pope of Rhinelander, Kathy Gilbertson (Gerry Cowell) of Cadott; her stepchildren, Joan Reid of Milwaukee, Thomas Pope of Duluth, MN, Larry (Lou Ann) Pope of Eau Claire, Alan (Carol) Pope of San Diego, CA, Charles (Suzanne) Pope of Waterford, WI; her children by her first husband, Nancy (David) Redard of Chippewa Falls, Janet (Rod) Rubenzer Pike of Chippewa Falls and Cindy (Fred) Miller of Altoona; 62 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Bowe of Tilden; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her children, Joseph O. "Junior" Rubenzer, Joyce Pope, Richard O. Pope; her parents, one brother and five sisters.

Funeral services will be noonThursday, October 29, 1998, at Holy Ghost Church in Chippewa Falls. Rev. Edmund Doerre will be celebrant of the funeral mass. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Eau Claire.
Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 1998 at Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls.
